We carry chiffon because it moves the way other fabrics simply cannot. When you hold this material between your fingers and let it fall, you immediately understand why designers reach for it again and again. Our Aura collection features a soft matte finish with a genuinely flowing drape that photographs beautifully and feels luxurious against the skin.
Cut to order from 1 yard to 30 yards in 50+ carefully curated colors that span from classic bridal whites to bold party shades. Every shade sells at a fair price and ships the same day.
HOW DESIGNERS AND CRAFTERS USE CHIFFON
1) Garments that need movement. If a dress should flow instead of hold its shape, chiffon is the natural choice. Designers layer it over silk satin for evening gowns, drape it for bridesmaid dresses, and cut it on the bias for blouses that look elegant without feeling heavy:
a) Lining the top layer of a multi-layer skirt for extra volume without weight
b) Lightweight shrugs and wraps for events where the weather shifts unexpectedly
c) Dance costumes that look beautiful under stage lighting and never restrict movement
Layer it over silky satin for a contrasting effect — the smooth under-layer against the flowing chiffon creates depth.
2) Decor that sets a mood. Event planners know that a few yards of chiffon change the entire feel of a room. The fabric catches ambient light and creates soft shadows that harsh materials cannot produce. Popular uses include table runners for receptions, draped backdrops for photography, and ribbon details on gift wrapping.
3) Accessories and small projects. Chiffon works brilliantly for projects that need just a yard or two. Scarves, hair ribbons, flower-making, jewelry backing, and quilt accents all benefit from the lightweight nature of this fabric.
WORKING WITH CHIFFON: PRACTICAL TIPS
Let us be straightforward about cutting chiffon: it slides. That movement quality that makes it gorgeous to wear also makes it tricky on the cutting table. Place a sheet of tissue paper underneath before you cut and leave it attached until your machine stitches it away. The paper peels off cleanly afterwards.
For hems, a narrow rolled hem or serged edge prevents fraying. Always use a fine needle (70/10 or 65/9) with quality thread — the thread catches better on the matte surface when the needle moves at a moderate speed.
