Silk is the gold standard of natural fibers for good reason. It breathes in warm weather and insulates in cool weather, drapes like nothing synthetic can replicate, and has a natural luster that no manufacturing process fully duplicates. The protein structure of silk fibers creates a surface that is simultaneously smooth and textured, which is why silk photographs differently under every lighting condition.

Our silk collection includes pure silk fabrics in a range of weights and weaves, from lightweight habotai that layers beautifully to heavier dupioni with its characteristic slubbed texture. Silk works for everything from bridal wear to scarves, linings for high-end garments, and decorative pieces where the fabric itself is the statement. Layer silk over power mesh for structured silk garments that need hidden support.

THREE REASONS SILK REMAINS IRREPLACEABLE

1) Luxury bridal and formal wear. When a bride or designer wants the real thing, silk delivers a drape and sheen that synthetic fabrics approximate but never match. Consider these applications:

a) Silk charmeuse for bias-cut wedding gowns that follow the body's natural curves with zero resistance

b) Silk dupioni for structured bridal jackets and boleros where the slubbed texture adds visual interest

c) Silk organza for lightweight veils and overlay panels that float without stiffness

2) High-end scarves and accessories. Silk scarves, pocket squares, and hair wraps all benefit from the way silk holds dye colors with depth that polyester cannot replicate. The natural protein fibers absorb dye at a molecular level, creating colors that look alive rather than printed. Combine with our printed organza collection for mixed-media accessory projects that blend textures.

3) Skincare and hair care. Silk pillowcases and silk-lined sleep caps reduce friction on skin and hair compared to cotton. The smooth surface does not pull or tangle, which is why dermatologists and hair stylists recommend silk for anyone managing frizz, breakage, or fine lines.

CARING FOR SILK

Silk requires gentle handling. Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent or use dry cleaning for structured pieces. Never wring or twist silk. Press on low heat with a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric. Use a fine needle (65/9 or 70/10) and silk or fine polyester thread for sewing.
